ensemble: La MAIN (1998)

J’ai utilisé ici la possibilité de traduire en lumières les infimes modulations de reliefs inscrits dans une résine transparente lorsque celle-ci est éclairée  par au-dessus ( voir la série  » Les ASTEROÏDES « ).
Pour obtenir deux empreintes (recto et verso) de ma main, j’ai dû l’enduire de résine, attendre son séchage et la peler pour ensuite positionner cette autre peau transparente directement dans la tête de l’agrandisseur.
Cette forme d’autoportrait me convient; il est comme une main tendue vers l’objectif d’un paparazzi indiscret. J’y révèle la gravure de ma destinée mais j’y dissimule l’image d’un ego en perpétuelle usure.

2 éléments 120 x 100 cm. Empreintes via résine transparente. Epreuves au Chlorobromure d’argent et virage . Marouflés sur aluminium.

Here too, I exploited the possibility of translating into light the minute modulations in relief seen in transparent resin when it is lit from above.
To obtain two prints of my hand (back and front views), I had to coat it with resin, wait for it to dry and then peel it off and place this other transparent skin directly into the enlarger.
This kind of self-portrait is just right for me. It is like a hand warding off the camera of a prying paparazzo. In it, I disclose the engraving of my fate but I conceal all the muddle of an ego under perpetual wear and tear.
